What is the goal of Advaita?

The goal of Advaita, as taught by Francis Lucille, is to realize one's true nature as pure consciousness or awareness. This realization brings about a state of inner peace, freedom from suffering, and a deep sense of unity with all of existence.

Advaita, which means "non-duality" in Sanskrit, is a philosophy and spiritual practice that originated in ancient India. It is based on the principle that there is only one ultimate reality, which is pure consciousness, and everything else is an illusion created by the mind.

According to Advaita, the root cause of all suffering is the mistaken belief that we are separate individuals, disconnected from each other and from the universe. This sense of separation creates a constant seeking for fulfillment and happiness in external things, leading to attachment, fear, and suffering.

The goal of Advaita is to break free from this illusion of separation and realize our true nature as pure consciousness. This is not a belief or concept, but a direct experience that can be attained through self-inquiry and meditation.

Francis Lucille teaches that this realization is not something to be achieved, as it is already present within us. It is simply a matter of removing the layers of conditioning and false beliefs that obscure our true nature.

Through the practice of Advaita, one can come to see that the mind and body are temporary and ever-changing, while pure consciousness remains constant and unchanging. This understanding brings about a sense of inner peace and freedom, as one is no longer identified with the changing aspects of the self.

Furthermore, the realization of non-duality also leads to a deep sense of unity with all of existence. As we see through the illusion of separation, we come to understand that we are not separate individuals, but rather expressions of the same pure consciousness. This brings about a sense of love, compassion, and connection with all beings.

In summary, the goal of Advaita, as taught by Francis Lucille, is to realize our true nature as pure consciousness and break free from the illusion of separation. This brings about inner peace, freedom from suffering, and a deep sense of unity with all of existence.
